It’s funny what you’re finally exposed to when you join the parenthood club.
Like, I could never have named Paw Patrol characters until now, and I certainly didn’t know anything about Blippi and his wildly popular YouTube channel. I had heard parents refer to characters before, without having a clue who the character was and what they were all about. I’ve asked friends for gift suggestions for the little ones I buy gifts for, and then need clarification around who exactly that character is and what they are known for.
Something about JoJo and big bows? Why is that a thing?

But, there’s something comforting about the same characters being in existence for countless years. Sesame Street is that show. How long has Elmo and Big Bird and my personal favorite, Cookie Monster, been singing songs and teaching kiddos good lessons and manners? A really, really long time.
I remember being enamored with Sesame Street as a child, and it’s so fun to see my son feels the same way. Those same lessons are there. Those same characters are dancing around on screen. Just goes to show that perhaps you don’t need new characters all the time with frilly accessories (although I’m sure some is fun). The tried and true characters of everyone’s childhood are imparting the same knowledge on our youth for decades to come.
